Sarah Paulson Obituary - 2020 (2024)

Sarah (Sally) Paulson resident of the city and Town of Hartford, Wisconsin for over 65 years, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020, at the Gardens of Hartford. She was 98 years old.

Sally was born June 24, 1922 in a 2-room log cabin on a farm outside of White Lake,
WI to Charles and Marie (nee Pruha) Worden. She attended school at White Lake and graduated from West Green Bay High School. She attended Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin and UW Madison and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1944. She married Ray Paulson on June 21, 1947. They were married for 56 years. She worked her first job as a Spanish teacher in Oshkosh, WI. She also worked as a Spanish teacher and English teacher at Hartford Union High School periodically from1957 until 1984. She established the AFS and Amity Institute International programs in 1962 at Hartford HS which hosted students and teachers from all over the world.

Sally is survived by 3 children Kristine Paulson, De Pere, Karla Paulson, Milwaukee, and Neil (Jan) Paulson of Morro Bay, CA; 5 grandchildren Todd Weiss, Jason Weiss, Shane Weiss, Tyler Chapman (Kristina Mody) and Eron Paulson; 2 great-grandchildren Anya Weiss and Malcolm Chapman Mody; brother-in-law Robert (Carol) Paulson from Auburn, New York and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Marie Worden; 2 sisters Hazel (John) Ognie and Helen (George) Seeger as well as one brother Harold (Rita) Worden; 2 sisters-in-law, Leila Schneck and Shirley Paulson and 1 brother-in-law, Floyd Schneck.

Sally’s family is thankful for the loving care provided by the staff at both the Gardens of Hartford and Kindred Hospice.

Due to Covid-19, services will not be held. Sally’s inurnment will be held privately at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartford, WI where she will be laid to rest by her husband, Ray.
