Titled “Contra-Natural.”
Titled “Contra-Natural.”
adidas and Yohji Yamamoto continue to push boundaries and set new standards for fashion with the release of Y-3‘s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, “Contra-Natural.”
Inspired by the oxidation process and nature’s inevitable ascension over technology, the two formidable creative forces come together to create a brave new world. Introducing new colors, “Clay Brown,” “Mesa,” “Shadow Red” and “Mint,” Y-3 incorporates its tried and true neutral shades to deliver garments that are futuristic in their design, while remaining versatile enough to stand up against the elements.
Artfully draped snow white dresses, join hats complete with bunny ear-like flaps for coverage and utilitarian skirts crafted from fabric you would normally find on a windbreaker. Joggers boast their flexibility, detaching into shorts and joining a heavily-pocketed cargo jacket to speak to the collection’s superior ability to marry an avant-garde aesthetic with an eye towards functionality. adidas’ iconic Three Stripes appear on the hem of asymmetric skirts, accompanying tuxedos with ruching alongside the arms for added texture and dimension. Staying true to its pragmatic ethos, accessories ground the collection, delivering seasonally appropriate water slides, sandals and beach towel bags with, of course, removable components.
