My question to coaches, consultants, vc’s, founders, executives, and anyone else putting together checklists to create sustainable productivity and well-being - why aren’t core values mentioned more often?Seriously. We say core values are important but they are almost never mentioned in these type of check lists.To me this means they (or at least the way we have done them), don’t work for making decisions and taking action on a day to day basis.What to do?One way is to pretend like core values don’t exist but I don’t think that is working given the stress and burnout we are seeing in business today.Or we can streamline them and make them easier to remember and use.Get your core values down to three words and start asking, “how can we use them to solve this problem/achieve this goal?”This actually works but does take practice.What do you think? Are core values important for the future of work and if so, how do you suggest we make greater use of them?
